Not to us, o Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory

(Psalm 115:1)

Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani (OSMTH) is a United Nations Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in Geneva, Switzerland.
Swiss Federal Registry Number CH-660.1.972.999-4

OSMTH – is recognised as a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. This is on account of its activities in providing humanitarian relief and promoting inter-faith dialogue.

The Order of the Temple is a Christian ecumenical organization founded in 1804 by the physician Fabré-Palaprat with the support of Napoleon, and officially recognized in 1853 by Napoleon III. The Order operates on the basis of the traditions of the medieval Knights Templar. It reclaims the spirit of, but does not assert any direct descent from the ancient Order founded by Hugues de Payens in 1118 and dissolved by Pope Clement V in 1312.

Fabré-Palaprat was a product of the Age of Enlightenment, with its humanitarian and humanistic ideals. The concepts of “Templar” and “Templarity” became for him a synonym of help and protection, decency, dedication and chivalrous behavior. He based his new Order of the Temple on these ideals. For these reasons, in the 19th century the Order counted among its members very prominent people and protectors.

OSMTH aspires to foster a cosmopolitan society in which differences among peoples, cultures, and governments will be both respected and appreciated. We seek the betterment of humanity through education, world brotherhood, chivalric principles, and civil behavior and treatment among one-another.

The Order’s Royal Patron, who is also a Chevalière of the Order, is Her Highness Princess Elisabeth of Ysenburg and Büdingen, the eldest daughter of the late Prince Friedrich Ferdinand of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg and his wife, Duchess Anastasia of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The House of Schleswig-Holstein is unique by virtue of its numerous junior lines that have occupied (and will be occupying) thrones beside that of the senior, ducal line, to which Princess Elisabeth belongs. Princess Elisabeth is the widow of Prince Ferdinand Heinrich of Ysenburg and Büdingen, and has two sons, Prince Johann Georg and Prince Ludwig.

Our membership standards are purposely very high, our financial and time commitments are not for everyone, and our dedication to a more caring world requires significant expectations that not everyone can meet. But for those who qualify, the OSMTH Knights Templar Order offers an unequaled Worldclass Chivalric Order with an international network of some of the most sophisticated and influential professional men and women from over 40 different nations.
